Lok was the 52nd god to awake. Long ago, the gods favoured worlds they observed and interacted with. Lok managed to set his favored world on a path to destruction - a tragedy that prompted the gods to institute a rule of non-interference.
Although he is the younger brother of the First, as the youngest god, Lok was never well-respected. He grew jealous of the status enjoyed by Merlu, his brother's right hand. When he discovered that Merlu had been secretly living in human form, to the extent of taking a human wife and fathering a child, Lok became furious and arranged for Merlu's human family to be killed. This act set off a great conflict among the gods, some siding with Merlu, some with Lok.
To re-establish order, The First confined Lok to a dimensional prison and bound Merlu to a tree.
Lok is also known as the Chained God, and his name likely originates from Loki, the god of chaos, while also referencing a "lock" itself.
